WYNOD is a Munich-based Trancecore, Metalcore and Progressive Metal band founded in 2018, known for blending Dubstep, Club, Trance, and Techno elements with Metalcore riffs and vocals. The band consists of founding members Snake (bass), Rob “The Irishman” (vocals, shout, rap) and Jorgoz! (guitar, keys, drum programming, shouting), who together craft a unique fusion of electronic beats and metal grooves. Despite starting to release music publicly only in 2023, WYNOD has already made a mark with their debut album “CrAnK” and is rapidly gaining traction on major streaming platforms and social media.

Our style of music

Harmoniously unusual

For those who do understand... we avoid standard blues scale as much as we can. We also rarely use pure major scales. However, scales that are very occasionally used in jazz we use quite often to execute our anti-mainstream strategy 😉

Rhythmically varied

For mosh, thrash and speed parts it is of course usually a 4/4 beat. But here and there we also use 5/4 beats for sophisticated guitar riffs and like to insert a ¼ or ½ bar at one point or another. As is so often the case, non-mainstream is our goal.

Guitar setup

In most cases we are using DropC. Two Staufer guitars with tremolo on top (a free-floating tremolo wouldn't be good for the sound) and old Bill Lawrence L500 pickup or Staufer humbuckers. The “dropped” low string gets a stronger string outside of the standard string set. An EVH D'tuna is installed, but is rarely used 😉

Keyboard use

Yes, they are used. But not to fan out a sound surface behind the guitar, as is traditionally the case, but rather dominantly in the foreground, with the aim of promoting club sounds combined with club beats and positioning them as a counterpoint to WYNOD's trashy guitars. A design feature that became second nature to our sound engineer, who mixed and masters the album, hopefully also live.
Oh, by the way: not everything that sounds like a keyboard is a keyboard. In addition to keyboards, samples are used more often. These are accessed live via Push2 or automatically using Ableton as a backtrack DAW.

Song structure

Verse, bridge, chorus, solo, chorus. Yup, we use this structering style, too, now and then, but more often - despite the predominantly metal style - we borrow song structures from the club and trance area. So you can find a "drop" and before the drop there is the build, the whole thing integrated with song structures that often deviate from A, A, B, A'. There's even a WYNOD song that has the following structure: A, B, C, D, E. Defenders of #Mainstream we rarely support ... LOL.

The team

There are core members: Andy who is in charge for mixing and mastering. He creates the Sonic Picture we love. Then we have Rob “The Irishman", clean vocals, but also rap and shouting. Recently he mentioned no band ever pushed him that far beyond his limits… or outside hims confort zone, well, and then he laughed … Snake, who is the living dictionary with always a leatherman in his pockts. Let alone guest musicians like Joe who supports us when true shouting is required and Janinne when Evanescence-type of vocals are required. Jorgoz! himself is shouting on some tracks, too.
